Carl Reichert


(German, 1836-1918)

Carl Reichert was destined to become an artist. His father and brother both named Heinrich Reichert and two nephews Bonifaz Heinrich and Franz Heinrich Reichert were all painters. Carl studied at the Academy of Design in Graz where he was a student with J. Tunner and Charles Moser.


Carl Reichert is known for his genre paintings of animals and scenes of everyday urban life. Many of the animals he painted were commissioned portraits. He also painted stage sets and decorations for theatre houses and produced a series of engraving in Graz.
