Peter Williams

Anyone who has frequented the major racetracks of the world has probably seen Peter Williams creating classic works of art.  Best known for his technique of painting on site to capture the ambiance of the thoroughbred scene, Peter Williams has a particular affection for Keeneland Race Track in Lexington, Kentucky and Churchill Downs in Louisville.  Visitors to the legendary tracks have the pleasure of observing Williams painting in the paddock, his artwork documenting the vibrant atmosphere that surrounds him.

A native of New Zealand, Peter Williams has studied, traveled and painted worldwide.  In addition to numerous commissions, he has exhibited his work in Australia, New Zealand, England, France and the United States. Collectors include Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of Richmond, Ogden Mills Phipps, William S. Farish and W.T. Young.  His paintings are found in the permanent collections of Churchill Downs, Del Mar, Keeneland and the New York Racing Association among others.
