Philip Jamison

After graduating from the Philadelphia College of Art in 1950, Jamison worked briefly in illustration and interior design before devoting his energies entirely to watercolor painting. His inspiration is drawn from his home town of West Chester PA and his summer home in Maine. A member of both the National Academy and the American Watercolor Society, his work has been widely exhibited in the United States including such venues as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. HIs work is re[resented in the collections of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Delaware Art Museum, the Natinal Air and Space Museum and numerous private collections.The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts has awarded Jamison both its Dana Medal and the Dawson Medal, and he has been honored by the Allied Artists of America, the American Watercolor Society, The National Academy and the Philadelphia Water Color Club.
