Valeriy Gridnev
Back(Russian, b.1956)
Born in 1956 in Siberia, Valeriy Gridnev came to St. Petersburg in 1982, making it his home. He was educated at an art college in Sverdlovsk and the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg. He also took an advanced course of studies at the USSR Academy of Arts. His graduation project—the painting Early Years—won him a prestigious prize—the Gold Medal of the USSR Academy of Arts.
A member of the Russian Artists’ Federation since 1991, Valeriy is a painter with a strong lyrical vein. He has a keen eye for the evasive detail, be it in a portrait, a still life, or pictorial composition.
Valeriy’s paintings may be found in various private collections in St. Petersburg, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Poland and the United States.
