Mary Jackson
(British, b. 1936)

Now living and working at Hurstbourne Tarrant, Hampshire, Mary Jackson trained as a mature student at Southampton College of Art from 1978 to 1983, and also studied part-time at Winchester College of Art. She was elected a member of N.E.A.C. in 1987, and has won a number of prizes, including the New English Critics Prize in 1990, and the Thomas Agnew, Brandler, and Patterson Prizes. She has been painter in residence at Glyndebourne for the opera season. She has visited both India and Australia, and some of her watercolors recording her travels were in an exhibition at Waterman Fine Art Limited in London. Her work is in a number of public and private collections, including those of the National Trust and Lord Weymouth.

Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Show, the Royal West Academy, the Mall Galleries, the Patterson Galleries, and the Kingfisher Gallery during the 1990 Edinburgh Festival. She has had two one-man shows at Winchester Theatre Royal and a two-man show at the Hallam Gallery.
