Joanne Mehl received her BFA in illustration in 1983 from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and has been devoted to painting and riding horses all her life. An avid rider, Joanne competes in three-day eventing. Joanne has focused much of her professional attention on portraits of horses and their owners. She began painting full time in 1996 and she has since received commissions from clients across the country. She resides in Portland, Oregon. Joanne’s work has been published in top equine periodicals. She is currently represented by Cross Gate Gallery in Lexington, KY. The Mural at Devonwood is Joanne’s recent project. It measures 12’ high and 47’ long and was completed in Spring of 2001.
