Sandra F. Oppegard After graduation from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, Sandra Oppegard worked as a freelance illustrator for twenty-three years. Her client list includes Max Factor, Jafra Cosmetics, Redken, Giorgio, Bullock's, Mattel Toys, and numerous agencies and design studios to name a few. She was a member of the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators from 1972-1984, the Montana Watercolor Society till 1999 and currently is a Full Member of the American Academy of Equine Art. She has exhibited with Women Artists of the West 2nd International Exhibition of Western Art, and won First Place in Watercolor in 1990 and 1991 at the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Equine Art Show and Sale at Longacres Racetrack in Renton, Washington. She participated in the First Annual Equifestival Art Show in Lexington, Kentucky, and won the Ruth Robbins Memorial Award for Watercolor, second overall. Sandra was the feature artist for the Mayfield Auction of Millbrook, New York, with her series of driving horses. She had a one-person show at Barrett's in Pomona, California and was the subject of a feature article in the April/May issue of Equine Images. Her knowledge of thoroughbred racing, gained from working with her racehorse trainer husband as well as visiting numerous tracks around the country, imbues her racing scenes with authenticity combined with great affection for the colorful work of trainers, grooms and exercise riders. As a result, her work has become a favorite with persons working in the horse business. Sandra produces work at both her studio in Lexington, Kentucky, as well as on location at various tracks.
